Hope found Again...

I wasn’t a thought in my parents eyes when hope took a beating and was later murdered in the 1960’s.  I wasn’t there when the country had few enemies and was coming to grips with its past and a possible future.  All I have learn and seen from that time in our country’s history is that the people then believe in their federal government, they believed that their voices and cries would be heard.  They believe in the cause of hope, and that there is never enough of it.
Then without warning innocence as well as hope were lost to time. We as a nation began to fall apart, yet we never wavered. We have become a nation irritable skeptics and realistic dreamers, and apathetic voters. Because then as a nation we watched as hope was subsequently murdered before our eyes in 1963, 1965, and twice in 1968.  Yet, I find it strange that as much as we have been disillusioned as a nation and as generation, we have found what our parent’s lost in the most unlikely places and in the most unlikeliest of times and even stranger is what we found.  HOPE!!!
It is our generation who again has spawned another movement, granted they haven’t all been good but this is different. This beyond the individual, beyond race, beyond sex and creed, nationality and party affiliation, what is it about is Change and Hope that we are greater than ourselves.  Hope that we are no longer attempting to choose between the lesser evils of our beings and that the human spirit is stronger and with greater resolve than fear itself.  It is that chance to prove that we aren’t the losers, wanders, slackers, dot-comers/busters; greed is everything, in to get our own piece of the pie generation.  We are the voice of HOPE reborn, and we are the wind of change.  We are the warriors that in some ways our parents long us to be, we are their dreams restored that was lost in those dark days; we are the embodiment of all that makes this nation great.  Yet, we are not alone in this grand achievement, because we could not do this alone with our sisters and our brothers and the generation that follows us. As it has been said over the past year or so,” THIS IS OUR TIME, THIS IS OUR MOMENT…!” Let’s have Hope again….
